Elysia Crecelius received her Masters in Music Education degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham where she also studied flute with Professor Lisa Wienhold. While completing her degree she was be a member of the UAB Symphonic Winds and served as the flute coach for the inaugural year of the Birmingham Youth Wind Symphony. Additionally, Elysia was a music instructor for the UAB Summer Music Camps in June 2017 and 2018.

Elysia previously taught flute in Columbia, Missouri where she completed her Masters of Music in Flute Performance while studying at the University of Missouri. She was a member of the Mid-Missouri-based Pipes and Keys, performed with the Columbia Community Band and the Columbia Civic Orchestra, and often played with the Missouri Symphony. Beginning in September 2015, Elysia spent a year working with the Missouri Symphony Society Conservatory woodwinds in sectionals and chamber music sessions.

During her tenure at the University of Missouri, Elysia studied with Steven Geibel and Alice K. Dade and served as the Flute Studio Teaching Assistant. Elysia also studied clarinet with Paul Garritson and played clarinet in the University Wind Ensemble for two semesters. As the Teaching Assistant, she taught both major and non-major lessons and she taught the Music Education Major's Flute Method's course. Elysia has performed in masterclasses with James Hall, Michael Gordon, and a rehearsal clinic with St. Louis Symphony’s David Robertson. Outside her performance and teaching career, Elysia considers the founding of the University of Missouri's Flute Society, MO Flute, as one of her biggest projects and accomplishments in graduate school. Along with completing her Masters Degree, Elysia was inducted as a Member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honor Society in May 2013.

In the summer of 2016, Elysia had the opportunity of working with the Missouri Symphony Conservatory's Hot Summer Nights Camp where she coached woodwind ensembles and worked with the woodwinds in the full orchestra. She also played second flute/piccolo in the Missouri Symphony for the first two weeks of the 2016 Hot Summer Nights Festival. In the summer of 2013, Elysia had the privilege of working with the University of Missouri Band summer camps, serving as the Woodwind Section Leader. In the summer of 2011, Elysia performed Anna Clyne’s Steel Works in the University of Missouri New Music Summer Festival.

Elysia received her Bachelors of Arts in Flute Performance from the University of Notre Dame where she studied with Korin Schilling. At Notre Dame, she taught flute, clarinet, alto saxophone lessons through the community program. Elysia is a member of the National Flute Association, the National Association of Music Education (NAfME), the Iowa Bandmasters Association, and the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association.
